FAQs about YEAH

I’d love to be involved with YEAH, what can I do?
The best way to keep up to date with YEAH and what we’re doing is to sign up to the Red Aware campaign. If you’re a young person and want to be more actively involved you might like to run your own Red Aware event or join our Agent of YEAH program by registering your interest to become a sex ed peer educator in your local community. For a list of ways to get involved please visit the Act section of our website.


I’m a Uni student. Can I do a community health related placement with you?
Yes, If your interest in doing a placement with us please contact us at info@yeah.org.au. YEAH is always keen to hear form Uni students who are required to complete a community health placement as part of their studies. However, we cannot guarantee we will always be able to say yes as we have a few limited place available each year.

Does YEAH provide STI testing or sexual health counseling services?
YEAH does not provide any testing our counseling services. Please have a look at the Think section of our website for some links to providers of STI testing and counseling services.

 

How can I get YEAH to come to my school/event/whatever?
If you would like YEAH to support your school, organisation or come along to run a stall at your event, check out our resources page or consider booking an Agent of YEAH peer educator to come out and run a sexual health workshop. If you’re a young person you might like to consider running your own Red Aware event!

I’m a school teacher/youth worker, how can I get copies of sexual health resources to hand out to the young people I work with?

A range of study guides, DVDs and other smaller free materials such as STI pocket size booklet are available via the Get Resources section of our website.

What is YEAH?

YEAH stands for Youth Empowerment Against HIV/AIDS, and we’re an Australian Health Promotion Organisation. You can find more about YEAH here.

What is Red Aware?
Red Aware is a campaign (run by YEAH) that aims to empower young Australians to take action and think about sexual health and get informed, start a conversation about sexual health and take positive action to prevent the spread of HIV and other STIs. Please check out the Red Aware campaign for more info.

Do you only work within Australia?
Yes, at this point we only operate within Australia.

Who funds YEAH’s programs?
YEAH receives funding from the Commonwealth Government Department of Health and Ageing. Additional funds are sometimes received in the form of tax deductible donations and other small project grants.
