Community Noise

Actually that’s a downright lie, hardly anyone asks about that. They usually ask us for free condoms (sure), or if they can have one of our demo dildos (No!).

But I’m still going to tell you what we’re up to. In short, a heck of a lot. You see we’re in the midst of gearing up for our annual tour with regional music Festival Groovin’ The Moo. We go on the road to five regional locations; Bendigo, Townsville, Maitland, Canberra (yep, it’s a regional centre) and Bunbury. We pack up our giant condom castles, send planeloads of trained peer educators around the country, train up local volunteers and buy thousands and thousands of condoms. It’s kind of like D day, but with more safe sex.

So we’ve been organising all this, developing cool new resources, working out what cool new activities we can run this year, finding heaps of rad, passionate volunteers. So the office is bursting at the seams with staff, product samples, lists and charts, and (as always) condoms. Overall the general mood is of organised chaos.

I have a feeling that this organised chaos will all align in to a stet of zen like efficiency just before the first concert in Bendigo, and even now I can say that this year, Red Aware at Groovin’ the Moo is going to be a gajillion times more awesome than last years efforts (and that’s saying something). But we’re not content with organising a massive national tour, we’re still firing on all the other cylinders too; we’re training a heap of awesome new peer educators in Melbourne this week, with Darwin and Canberra in the pipeline, working on some cool projects and partnerships, sending safe sex gear off to numerous community events and helping passionate young people everywhere spread the good word about safe sex and the importance of sexual health.

So, that’s what’s going on in our office, how about yours?

Until next time, from Felix and the rest of the YEAH team.
